Natural Disasters Abroad
From HyogoAJET
When tsunamis caused by a powerful earthquake caused serious damage to south and southeast asia in December 2004, many JETs were spending their winter vacations abroad. More than a few were actually in Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries that were seriously affected by the calamity.
When a disaster like this happens, your friends and family back home won't be the only ones worrying about you. If your school/BOE hasn't heard from you, there's a good chance they'll ask us to try and hunt you down to see if you're OK.
Moral of this story? If you're abroad when a natural disaster strikes, just drop us a quick email and let us know you're OK. It doesn't have to be anything fancy; all you have to write is "I'm OK."
