Hello from AJET: May 2014
The month of May has crept up on us once again, hello May! We welcome you warmly as you bear the best gift a nenkyu-less ALT can get, Golden Week! Come Friday May 2nd I’ll be all packed and ready to dart out of the staff room straight onto a flight to Seoul! Whether you’re having a four day breather, bender or mini-break please beware these spring fun and games don’t last. Oh no. The planners among us will already know, after GW, your next three day weekend isn’t until…JULY. So make the most of glorious Golden Week.
Don’t worry too much though, you still have regular weekends to enjoy and the Hyogo AJET team has a cracking one to offer. On Saturday May 31st, Hyogo’s baby, Awaji, will be the site for all things camping. Join fellow PR and Hyogo AJET socialite, Ryan Hertel, in Awaji for some glamping (glamorous camping-SO Ryan). Get ready for BBQs, smores and campfire sing-a-longs. See the Hyogo AJET Facebook page for more details.
Another little break from work you might get this month is in the form of mid-terms. A well-timed week made for ambitious lesson planning, essay marking and with enough down time to catch up on reading. And what better to start than Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84, which happens to be the Hyogo AJET Book Club’s next read – how fitting. Join us on June 8th in Kobe for chats and cha (茶). As always all the details are on our Facebook page, the Hyogo AJET website and for more book recommendations, check out our goodreads page.
As a Brit, and therefore notorious for weather fascination, I’d like to wish you well in this warm weather, enjoy it before the uchiwas and aircon become necessities!
